We got rid of our second car and never looked back!

I've been gliding for four years, and over that time I've watched gas prices rise. It feels soooo good to glide past gas stations as well as to glide past stalled auto traffic during rush hours and during vacation periods when heavy influxes of tourists choke the streets with traffic.

The fun factor of Segway PT gliding is not to be discounted, either. But it can be practical at the same time.

I run local errands gladly because it gives me a totally acceptable excuse to get out and glide.

I have no desire to own a car again.

The Segway woke me up to how stressful it is to own and drive a car. After 1 year of owning the Segway, I've had no desire to get back into owning a car. I found renting cars from time to time is much funner and cheaper. It's been 4 years now, and the Segway has proven countless number of times everyday that it is just as fast, much funner, way cheaper, and more convenient then a car in everyday city life.

The way I do it is like this. First I moved to an area where I would be in Segway distance to shops, friends, work, and a train station (Note: The nice thing about not having car expenses is you can afford nicer places to live)). I am then able to use my Segway for almost everything. For longer commutes I take the Segway onto the train. On the rare occasions of renting cars or Uhauls, I ride my Segway there, pick up a vehicle, and when I'm finished 1 or 2 days later, I drop off the car or truck and then Segway home. I love it because I'm always driving a brand new car that I don't have to fix.

There's also the times I meet up with friends. If we ever decide to go somewhere together, I just take the handle bar off my Segway and put in a trunk, backseat, or truck bed. No one ever minds. Oh, and there's no need to baby your Segway. If it's in the back of a truck and its rolling around smashing into things, don't worry, it does not break easily.
