Segways CAN fly. You need the appropriate Dangerous Goods certification, etc.

The "new rules" still do not apply to the batteries for the PT... as it still exceeds the min exemption requirements. Here's a good reference guide:


UN3171 – Battery Powered Equipment (SEGWAY PT with batteries connected)

  • GROUND= REGULAR SHIPMENT
  • AIR (CARGO compartment)= HAZMAT Code 9
  • OCEAN = REGULAR SHIPMENT

UN3090 – Battery Kits:

  • GROUND / AIR / OCEAN = HAZMAT Code 9
