Why Another Kickstand?

There are already four kickstands on the market for the Segway. With such a small market in the first place why would any company engineer a new stand? Well the answer is simple, no one else has a kickstand that "works".

The SEGsuperstand is machined of stainless steel and aluminum. There are three moving parts, the front stand, the connection arm, and the foot pedal. Pressing down on the foot pedal at the rear of your segway pushes on the spring loaded connection arm. This arm in turn deploys the kickstand at the front of the Segway. With your foot depressed and the stand extended you rock your Segway forward until the stand hits the ground. The segway will remain leaning forward against the stand in off, standby, and alarm mode.

When you are ready to head out, just pull your segway toward you, the stand snaps back underneath the Segway.

Long - 2.5mm Allen (hex) Wrench
Long - 4mm Allen (hex) Wrench
8mm Socket or Open End Wrench

Installation

Remove the front and rear cap screws

Place foam on the bottom of the base/transmission spacer

Installing front and back setscrews with 2.5mm Allen (hex) wrench

Installing front and rear standoffs onto the setscrews with an 8mm socket

Pull on the stand to get proper alignment while installing Front cap screw and washer

On the right hand side of the Segway, remove the front and back screws holding the plastic trim covers in place. These trim covers contain the reflective stripe, red on the back, white on the front. You will not need these cap screws but keep them in a safe place in case you decide to move your SEGSuperstand to a different machine.
Put the included black foam in place on the bottom of the spacer located between the transmission and the base. I peeled back the tape about an inch and put the foam in place, then slowly worked the backing off as I applied the foam.
Using the 2.5mm Allen (hex) wrench, install the set screws into the now empty trim cover holes. Keep turning until they bottom out in the holes, but don't over tighten them.
Using an 8mm Socket or Open Ended Wrench, install the standoffs onto the set screws. Tighten these to 8 foot pounds.
Install the kickstand assembly rear first. Using the 4mm Allen (hex) wrench, insert the stainless steel cap screw with washer though the kickstand and onto the standoff.
Move the foot of the kickstand into the open position and pull it toward you. This pushes the stand into the foam allows you to insert the cap screw and washer through the front of the kickstand into the standoff.
