Parts Required

  • 3/4 inch copper fitting
  • Quick Setting Epoxy Glue
  • A longer m(x) screw. I don't have the specs on this screw yet, I just used one from a gen2 cargo kit

Tools Required

  • Tubing cutter

  • Allen wrench
  • Emery cloth
  • Electric drill
  • Drill bit 5/16
  • Center Punch
  • Hammer

Preparation

Modifying the Upper Frame

Install the CSB clamp about 1" below the bottom of height adjustment collar
Remove the retaining ring at the end of the upper frame tube
Using the tubing cutter, shorten the upper frame tube where it connects to the control shaft. I cut off 5/8 of an inch.
Using the tubing cutter, score BUT DON'T CUT the tube 1/2 inch from the end you just cut
Slide the hand screw all the way down to the curved area of the tube
Install the retaining ring on the end of the upper frame tube
Mix up a small amount of epoxy and smear it from the end of the tube to the retaining ring.
Wiggle the ring around to get a small amount of glue under the ring
Make sure there is NO glue on the outside of the ring and the side of the ring facing away from the end.

Set the part aside to dry When dry, it should look like this.

Modifying the Vertical Support

Mark 2 inches above the top screw on the support tube
Using the tubing cutter, make two cuts and shorten the support by 1-5/8 inches.
Using emery cloth, sand down the support tubing until the copper fitting slides on both ends to the upper support
Dry fit the upper and vertical support tubes
Mix up a small amount of epoxy and smear it on the inside of the copper fitting.
Quickly attach the bottom two screws so that you can use the segway itself to insure you have everything lined up correctly before the glue sets

Leave the vertical tube connected and let it dry

Assembly

Connecting the tubes

Once all of the pieces have had a chance to dry, it's time to drill a new hole through the upper frame tube
Measure 6 1/2 Inches from the back of the tube and use your center punch to mark the place to drill
Drill a hole in the upper support frame tube
Using you hammer, LIGHTLY strike the upper support frame tube on the top of the tube where you just drilled. YOU DON'T WANT TO CRUSH THE TUBE, you just want to make a flat spot on the top of the tube. This may crack the powder coating, but this part is always covered by the carrying bag so it shouldn't be a big issue
Join the two tubes using the screw. I had to get a longer than stock screw out of my "junk drawer"

Install the bag

Attach the bag on the upper frame tube making sure the lower velcro is centered over the vertical support. Notice that the front catch almost extends to the curved section of the upper support, that is normal with this modification.

Admire your handy work.
