Fixing Wheel Wobble
From SegwaySocial
by Jeff Backes & Jim Wilcox
I found a very good way to remove the wobble over the weekend.
At the Sunnyvale polo match Sunday, Steve from Oakland was working on a kickstand and mentioned a pry-bar he had started using to fix wobbles and the technique he found effective.
Jim and I went over to OSH and purchased a three foot pry-bar.
Tools needed:
- Pry-bar
- Carpenter's square
Steps:
- Place the Segway on its side bad wheel facing up
- Hold the square against the battery, rotate the wheel to find the low spot
- Rotate the wheel so the low spot is at the very bottom of the segway
- Place pry-bar all the way up under the transmission and lift up
- You have to lift up at least twice as high as that part of the wheel is low
- Repeat starting at step 2 until the wheel is wobble free
We were able to remove a serious wobble in less than 5 minutes.
